Megan Chambers

Megan Chambers is a litigator currently focusing on contractual disputes and reviews, although her background leaves her primed to assist on several different areas of law. She has experience with hearings at various levels of court and a handful of administrative tribunals.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and attended the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. She was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2019 after completing her articles with a prestigious litigation boutique in Vancouver. She went on to become an associate with a leading regional insurance defense firm before starting her own firm in 2021 and then joining Nicol Law in 2022. Megan has assisted a variety of clients, including other small and sole practitioners, giving her a wide scope of practice areas.
Her passions include mental health and increasing access to justice through pro bono initiatives. Megan is excited about her return to Calgary and looks forward to finding new volunteer opportunities and hopefully returning to her favorite sports.

Jessica DudenhoefferJessica Dudenhoeffer headshot

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from MacEwan University in Edmonton and a Legal Assistant Diploma from Bow Valley College in Calgary. She is currently enrolled in the Juris Doctor program at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. Jessica has worked in law firms on and off for the past 10 years and she has significant legal assistant experience in construction, condominium, personal injury, employment, estate, and commercial litigation. Once Jessica becomes a member of the Law Society of Alberta, she plans to focus on contract law, including sports, employment, and entertainment. She currently volunteers with the TRU Environmental Club and the Oral Advocacy Club.

Jessica is an avid skier, mountain biker, and hiker. She is also a comic book fan and attends comic conventions all over North America every year.

Stefania GarlickaStefania Garlicka headshot

Stefania was born in Włocławek, Poland and was raised in Calgary.

Stefania holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in French, both from the University of Calgary. She obtained her JD from Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland, where she was able to obtain both a Qualifying Law Degree and a doctorate. Stefania successfully defended her doctoral thesis with no corrections in her final year of law school, which was titled, “Investigating the Relationship Between Criminal Trespass under Section 144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and the Doctrine of Adverse Possession: A Comparative Analysis of England & Wales and Canada”. Stefania’s passion for advocacy grew while she participated in mooting competitions in the UK, even winning an award for ‘Best Advocate’.

Stefania has always enjoyed volunteering and giving back to her community. She has volunteered with Calgary Legal Guidance, the Elizabeth Fry Society, the Calgary Dream Centre, as well as the Calgary Youth Justice Society.

Stefania is fluent in Polish and French, and during her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating good food, skiing, and fishing.

Scott NicolScott Nicol headshot

Scott Nicol is an experienced corporate lawyer and member of the Alberta Law Society. Scott’s focus is on commercial transactions and litigation work, including drafting corporate and intellectual property agreements, addressing employment matters, and advising on insurance coverage and claims.

Scott holds bachelor of commerce and juris doctor degrees. Scott completed his J.D. degree at the University of Alberta, where he was awarded the Silver Medal for his strong academic performance, which placed him at the top of his class. Following his studies, Scott served as a judicial clerk at the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench in Calgary then worked for several years at a large national law firm.

Scott started Nicol Law Office to work more closely with clients and be able to offer flexible services responsive to client needs.

Scott spends his free time distance running, trail running, and cycling. He has travelled extensively, and even once tried blogging.

Erik Thompson

Barrister and Solicitor, erik.thompson@nicollaw.ca

Erik is a corporate commercial lawyer with an interest in helping businesses set up for success and assisting them with avoiding or resolving disputes.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Copenhagen Business School, and an L.L.B. (Hons) from the University of Birmingham in the UK. He returned to Canada and converted his law degree as a self-taught student. Erik has significant experience in hospitality, residential tenancies, and condominium properties.

Erik completed his composite articles and qualified as a full member of the Alberta bar in 2020. He volunteers regularly in the evening Summary Legal Advice Clinics with Calgary Legal Guidance, and as a peer support volunteer in the Alberta Lawyers’ Assistance Society.

Erik spends his free time practicing combat sports and playing beer league baseball. He speaks fluent Danish, and a little bit of Norwegian and Swedish.
